The Department of Pathobiology, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) is seeking a new faculty member to hold the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Parasitology in the Clinician Educator track. This position involves teaching, research and diagnostic parasitology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will function as head of the Diagnostic Parasitology Laboratory that serves Penn Vet's Ryan Hospital for small animals, the Widener Hospital for large animals at Penn Vet's New Bolton Center, the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System Branch, and the Wildlife Futures Program, the latter of which are also located at New Bolton Center. Also, the candidate will provide consultative parasitology service to clients and provide recommendations on new technologies relative to parasitology assays. The chosen candidate will be based at the diagnostic lab in the Philadelphia campus.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching parasitology to VMD students via didactic lectures, wet labs and clinical rotations for 4th year veterinary students. The Clinical Parasitologist will be expected to participate in ongoing curricular re-design efforts now underway at Penn Vet and to coordinate use and maintenance of the multidisciplinary teaching laboratories on the Philadelphia campus of the school.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's training and experience.
Qualifications
VMD/DVM, and/or a PhD in a relevant field and expertise in diagnostic veterinary parasitology. It is expected that if they hold a DVM/VMD, the successful candidate will be board certified or board eligible in the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists/Parasitology Specialty or equivalent specialty college. Excellent communication and writing skills are required.
